Nice speakers for desktop setup. Midrange is very clean and detailed. Out the box they sound super flat, I see many people complain about that, and that was my initial impression. But you can configure them to your liking with equalizer. I use Equalizer APO. They handle bass pretty well I don’t even need a subwoofer.I also have Edifier 1850bt, which are very nice speakers especially for their price, but with Audioengine I’m able to hear details in music I didn’t hear on Edifier.I use Spotify free, music quality set to high, and It sounds great. Sometimes I just sit and listen to music without doing anything else, which I didn’t do before.I like small things, and these speakers look small and cute, I like how they look on my desk. They sound like a bigger speakers.Negatives:- there is slight hiss when silent, which I can hear when my laptop fans are not kicked in;- on one speaker a little bit of glue can be seen in gap between tweeter and case if you look closely;- doesn’t sound particularly great out of the box, need to configure sound with equalizer, once done they sound great though.
